Alex Johnmeyer

Alex Johnmeyer (b. 1978) is a St. Louis-based artist whose vibrant realism paintings blend personal narratives with saturated color, pop culture references, and symbolism. His photography serves as the foundation for a body of work that spans oil, watercolor, and acrylic. He often uses toys as storytelling devices, inviting viewers to reflect on their own personal histories while celebrating the universal desire for acceptance and understanding. Since 2012, Alex has exhibited his work throughout the Greater St. Louis area, including at 31art Gallery, the Angad Arts Hotel, Duane Reed Gallery, and fundraising art events such as Wall Ball for Artscope and Art of PAWS for Vivent Health.
