Jodie Maurer - Plein Air Oil

Jodie Maurer captures the beauty and movement of the land in her gestural, thick, oil paintings. Raised in Overland Park, KS, she moved to St. Louis, MO to study art in 2005. Maurer received a B.A. in Studio Art in 2011 from Principia College, Elsah, IL. Maurer participates in Plein Air competitions across the country and has a body of work including landscapes from the Southwest, Midwest, and Northeast. Most recently she’s started painting on the West coast near her new home in southern California. Plein Air painting is an incredible experience. It’s a very intuitive process as the lighting and other elements change while working to capture the surrounding beauty. It’s an in-the-moment response to the qualities of the Soul found in nature. Maurer sees so much of God’s love expressed in nature and hopes the audience feels God’s love when admiring her paintings. Her paintings are in several private collections.
